The gold price recorded a slight loss on Monday as concerns about a possible recovery in the trade war came into play, after U.S. President Trump announced the first batch of trade letters sent to South Korea and Japan on social media, establishing tariffs on goods and products. As of press time, gold/USD was traded at $3333, down 0.06%.
After Trump announced a 25% tariff on all Korean and Japanese products sent to the United States, the trade war continued to escalate and the tariffs will take effect on August 1. XAU/USD Technical Outlook: Gold price trading sideways below $3350
The upward trend of gold prices remains intact. Currently, gold prices are above the 50-day simple moving average (SMA), about $3320. This is to buyHome relied on the first support line in the past four trading days. However, if the daily closing below this level, a support level of $3,300 will be exposed.
The Relative Strength Index (RSI) remains stable, indicating that XAU/USD may trade at the top/bottom level at the $3300 level in the near term.
If gold stays above the 50-day SMA, the next resistance will be $3350, followed by $3400. Instead, the $3300 level is expected to be tested, followed by a June 30 low of $3246. This level is crucial for buyers, as the next demand zone will be the May 15 low of $3,120 once it breaks through.
